There is a great disturbance on a Monday morning and it has to do everything with my lack of style...
As I have recently discovered — but have sensed for a LONG TIME — I'm out of style. According to my own co-workers I'm completely out of style. So, goatees aren't popular. A shaved head with a goatee is a deadly sin. Well, damn. Cause, if you know me, you'd know that if Topher Grace won't wear it, neither will I.
If blue jeans go out of style...
Saturday, a running diary.
8:31 a.m. Woke up.
9:45 a.m. Took a shower, ate breakfast.
10 a.m. Went and got coffee across the street, went to the bookstore next store, sat and listened to a mousy guy with a goatee read from James Joyce's "Ulysses" as part of Bloomsday. Peaceful is a word that can come close to describing the scene. He was backdropped by a huge street window as a thunderstorm rolled across the city.
11:35 a.m. Took Tracy to her Tae-Kwan-Do testing. She was going for medium brown belt — for those that don't know, in three more tests (about 2 years) she's a black belt.
3:45 p.m. We leave the test. Some highlights: I read 135 pages of "All the President's Men." I read from front cover to back the latest Sports Illustrated. Saw a kid get lit in the eye by a flying ax kick. Did irrevocable damage to my back sitting in a metal folding chair for nearly 4 hours.
4 p.m. My friend Greg alerts me to a hysterical link about a Christian-only long distance company. Apparently, MCI is OK with child porn, AT&T gives money to GLADD and Verizon — those bastards — tell their workers that being homosexual is fine. I'm glad, personally, that someone is taking a stand against those uppity phone companies and their homosexual tendencies. Especially the child pornographers. Cause you know, most pedophiles are heterosexual. Nice connection, huh?
4:27 p.m. Gran Turismo. I'm hooked. Tracy takes a nap.
7 p.m. Turn off Gran Turismo. Wake up Tracy. Go across the street again. Drink more coffee. Watch an in-character reading of "Ulysses" as the ending of Bloomsday.
10:03 p.m. Did you realize that "Ulysses" is a REALLY long book?
10:35 p.m. There's something you might not know about me: I know two things very, very well  80s TV shows and late 80s/early 90s music including rap. Well, there I was, at a KC hip-hop show.
11:37 p.m. Relieved to find out I'm not the most out-of-place white guy.
11:43 p.m. I'm so out of style, I just don't care.
Hip-hop. Martial Arts. James Joyce. Gran Turismo. Loads of coffee.
Good stuff.
